altGod of This City by Bluetree (Lucid Artist/Lucid Artist) remained atop the Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart for sales the week ending March 8, while Fireproof (Provident Films/Provident-Integrity Distribution) continued to hold the top spot of the SoundScan Christian Videos list.

altSeveral Christian books have been named finalists of ForeWord Magazine's 2008 Book of the Year Awards.

In the Audio Nonfiction category, the finalists included Abraham Lincoln: A Man of Faith and Courage by Joe Wheeler (Howard Books), narrated by Grover Gardner (Oasis Audio) and The Word of Promise: New Testament MP3 Audio Bible (Thomas Nelson).

Salem Communications reports losses, debt Print Email

altSalem Communications Corp. has reported that total revenue decreased 6.3% to $54.8 million from $58.5 million for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31 compared to the same period in 2007.

A Christian radio broadcaster, Internet content provider, and magazine and book publisher, Salem also projected total revenue to decrease 11% to 14%, to $54 million, over the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008.

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's (ECPA) new, consumer-oriented Christian Book Expo (CBE)--set for this weekend--has attracted early registrants from around the globe.

Scheduled March 20-22 at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, almost 50 registrations have been received to date from outside North America, representing 23 countries. Contributing to the overseas interest in CBE is the Rights & Licensing Marketplace on the show's exhibit floor and the International Management Forum (IMF)--a separate but related event occurring in the same location the day before the expo, ECPA officials said.

Exodus--episode 11--tells the story of the Exodus and the Last Supper, teaching children lessons about overcoming fear and moving on. In episode 12, No Way Back teaches about responsibilities from the story of Jonah. No Turning Back, episode 13, tells the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal as well as the First Pentecost.

altTodd Starnes, a reporter and anchor for Fox News Radio, has humorously chronicled his weight loss journey-which was prompted after he was diagnosed with a heart condition.

"I recorded my thoughts and put them together in a series of stories that aired on radio," said Starnes, whose debut book, They Popped My Hood and Found Gravy on the Dipstick, was released this month by Pathway Press. "We got this overwhelming response to people who connected to my stories."
