altThe Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced the finalists for the 2009 GMA/Christian Music Broadcasters Radio Station of the Year contest. Awards are given to major, large, medium and small market stations.

The finalists in the major market category are KCMS in Seattle, KTIS in Minneapolis and WPOZ in Orlando, Fla. WDJC in Birmingham, Ala., and WMHK in Columbia, S.C., are the finalists in the large market category.

While in-store book signings and appearances remain popular for local authors and some big-name writers, many are going online to build a following. The trend has been highlighted by the growth of author-run blog sites and new social media forms such as Twitter and Facebook.

altChristian Trade Association International (CTAI) has canceled Marketsquare Europe, scheduled for later this year, due to the current global economic conditions.

Some countries' currencies are devaluing in relation to the Euro and U.S. dollar, making international commerce more costly, CTAI officials said. Although CTAI had not heard reports of European publishers closing, many publishing houses were cutting back on new releases, which were essential to the translation-rights business central to Marketsquare Europe's success.

altFox News Radio reporter Todd Starnes is finding himself on the other end of the microphone these days-and with a message of hope in God.

He has been doing interviews about his new book, They Popped My Hood and Found Gravy on the Dipstick, which released March 3 from Pathway Press and distributed by Strang Book Group. It tells how Starnes underwent open-heart surgery in 2005 to replace a failing aortic valve, lost 150 pounds and dealt with the death of both his parents-all within a span of three years.
