Sarah Palin visits Zondervan, meets with Christian retailers Print Email

Kicking off her Going Rogue: An American Life (HarperCollins/Zondervan) book tour Nov. 18, former Alaskan Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin visited the offices of Zondervan to meet with company leadership and representatives from Family Christian Stores, Kregel Parable Christian Stores and Baker Book House (photos by Karen Campbell, director of public relations for Zondervan).

'Birdie and Bogey' in Christian retail Print Email

The drama Birdie and Bogey was recently released on DVD by Pure Flix Entertainment and 2nd Fiddle Entertainment, and is distributed to Christian retail by EMI CMG Distribution.

Released Nov. 17, the movie tells the story of Danny O'Connor (Mike Norris, son of actor-author Chuck Norris) and his journey to fulfill the dream of his daughter, Birdie (Amanda Alch), to reclaim a spot on the Professional Golfers' Association Tour.

Stryper to perform during tree lighting Print Email

Longtime Christian metal band Stryper was scheduled to perform today during the 86th annual New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Euronext holiday tree lighting in New York City.

Besides Stryper, Billy Ray Cyrus, the Manhattan Transfer and Twisted Sister with Constantine Maroulis were also scheduled to perform during the NYSE tree lighting.

Osteen’s 'Time' on 'New York Times' list Print Email

It's Your Time by Joel Osteen (Free Press) was No. 2 on the New York Times Hardcover Advice best-seller list for the week of Dec. 4.

The book by the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston previously held the top spot since its release Nov. 3.

 
Beth Moore tackles issue of insecurity Print Email

The seeds for popular speaker and author Beth Moore's new book were planted during work on her last Bible study release, on the life of Esther.

"We touched on (insecurity) just enough (for it) to come wide awake in my soul," she said. "If God has something on His mind that He wants me to research toward and listen to Him about, He'll make it to where I can't get enough of it-and that was true with (this subject)."

Christian Visionary Awards recognize artists Print Email

Tammy Trent, Natalie Grant, MercyMe, Kirk Franklin and Brandon Heath were among the winners of the recent Christian Music Hall of Fame 2009 Visionary Awards Show. The event was held Nov. 14 at First Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas, and was hosted by Justin Fennell and Chonda Pierce.

The Hall of Fame inductees included dcTalk, Yolanda Adams, Larnelle Harris and Crystal Gayle, with a posthumous award going to the late June Carter Cash.

For the third month in a row, Crazy Love by Francis Chan (David C. Cook) continued to hold the top spot of CBA's December Top 50 best-sellers list. Besides Crazy Love, books on Christian living and novels rounded out the top 10.
