Several retailers walked away with prizes during events at various booths in the International Christian Retail Show exhibit hall, including a Vacation Bible School package from David C. Cook and a $100 Starbucks gift card with a 2008 fiction catalog from Barbour Publishing. David C. Cook collected postcards sent through the mail and placed in issues of Christian Retailing, selecting 10 winners at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, for a Wildwood Forest VBS Prize Pack with three starter kits, church promotional tools and more. Mike Kennedy, senior director of marketing, said the turnout was very good, and the giveaway was a win-win for retailers and the company. "Anytime we can partner with retailers to provide additional resources, we really enjoy that," he said. Brenda Harrison of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore in Bedford, Ind., was among the winners and said the prize was "fantastic-that's a really nice giveaway they gave to 10 stores." Barbour Publishing held its first Barbour's Fiction Café on Tuesday, featuring five of the company's fiction authors-Wanda E. Brunstetter, Mary Connealy, Kelly Eileen Hake, Christine Lynxwiler and M.L. Tyndall-and a giveaway of a $100 Starbucks card with several new fiction titles from the company.
