Detroit pastor and GRAMMY-winning artist Marvin Winans made a surprise appearance at the House of Blues in Orlando, Fla., last night to help whet appetites for a forthcoming Fox Faith movie.

Winans sang two numbers from his latest album to promote the movie, Mama, I Want to Sing!, in which he makes his acting debut. Also appearing in the film-about a minister's daughter whose pop music career creates family tensions-are Ciara, Patti LaBelle and Billy Zane. Winans recruited his son, Marvin Jr., to sing with him at last night's reception, and also performed with the House of Blues Gospel Brunch Choir, who drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd.

Guests who were bussed out to the House of Blues for the Fox Faith in the House! dinner buffet were shown a montage of clips from some of the Fox Faith catalog-including its William Wilberforce biography and the adaptation of Janette Oke's novels-and a trailer for Mama, I Want to Sing! Fox Faith representative Kimberly Stephens said the film addressed themes such as courage, redemption, love and family.

Simon Swart, general manager of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, thanked retailers for their support of the Fox Faith initiative.
