Author and TV host Ben Stein visited the show yesterday, but not in his signature schoolboy shorts he wore as presenter of the recent documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, which exposed bias in the scientific world against those who reject evolution. Stein sported long pants for a signing session at the EMI CMG booth to promote the forthcoming DVD edition of Expelled, which is to be released by Vivendi Entertainment and distributed to Christian retail stores by EMI CMG. Attacked by pro-evolution scientists and others, Expelled exposed the prejudice leveled against scientists who reject Darwinian thinking, and took almost $8 million at the box office at around 700 theaters earlier this year, making it the 12th most successful documentary of all time. Producer John Sullivan said that the International Christian Retail Show visit-which drew a round-the-block line of people wanting to meet Stein-had been arranged in recognition of the strong support anticipated for the DVD at Christian stores. "This market is very important for this film," Sullivan said. "We found through the theatrical release that there was a great response from the Christian market and the faith community."
