At a news conference sponsored by MTV on Monday in Washington, D.C., Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie appeared with Third Day to encourage young people to get out and vote on Election Day.

"Young people all across the country are inspired by President Bush's positive message. We want to encourage those young people to take their enthusiasm to the polls on Election Day by turning out to vote," Gillespie said.

"In our culture, younger conservatives often feel ostracized by their peers," said Third Day bassist Tai Anderson. "We hope to make sure that no voice feels marginalized during this important election. While we personally support our President, George W. Bush, we hope to encourage all young people to exercise their right to vote."

Third Day and Gillespie also launched an essay contest encouraging people 18- to 24-years-old to submit their political views. The winners will be invited to take part in the party political conventions held this summer.
