LifeWay Christian Stores have seen a “significant increase” in Bible sales this year, Vice President Mark Scott told LifeWay Christian Resources (LCR) trustees at their semiannual meeting, Sept. 8-9.
Scott said the growth came in what has been a “challenging but rewarding year,” Baptist Press (BP) reported. The Southern Baptist chain opened its 50th store and “ministered personally to many customers who were led to faith in Christ while visiting.”
LifeWay.com ranked 126th in gross sales in the U.S. among e-commerce Web sites according to Internet Retailer, reported LCR Vice President Tim Vineyard. The Web site is due to undergo a major re-design soon, he said.
On the publishing side, B&H Publishing Group Vice President Brad Waggoner reported that the division’s most popular trade books for the year included The Love Dare, tied in to the forthcoming movie Fireproof.
Waggoner said the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) continued to gain acceptance among pastors, seminary professors and students as well as laypeople, BP reported. The soon-to-be-released HCSB Study Bible features an interactive Web site with downloads, study helps and videos.
