Dove Award-winning artist Michael W. Smith was scheduled today to join presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama in New York City as part of an event promoting the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation (PCSCP) and ServiceNation.
ServiceNation is a campaign to increase support for expanding national service programs such as the Peace Corps, and through service-learning experiences in schools and colleges
Smith performed earlier this week on the south lawn of The White House as leaders gathered to celebrate President George W. Bush’s commitment to the PCSCP, the organization he appointed the singer to vice chair in January 2006. Established in January 2003 by Bush, the PCSCP promotes volunteer service and civic participation.
