Tyndale House Publishers yesterday began shipping a recently released book about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who was recently selected to be the running mate by Republican presidential candidate John McCain, company officials said.

Fairbanks, Alaska-based Epicenter Press released Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska’s Political Establishment Upside Down by Kaylene Johnson in May. Tyndale agreed to distribute a paperback edition of the book with a slightly different subtitle, How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down.

Ingram Publisher Services—Ingram Book Group’s distribution, sales and marketing services for publishers—recently announced that it would print and distribute more than 30,000 copies of a paperback version of Sarah. But Tyndale officials said the Carol Stream, Ill., company has taken over the book’s distribution.

“There may be some slight overlap in the transition, but Tyndale House is now the publisher/distributor of the softcover edition of Sarah,” Mavis Sanders, Tyndale’s corporate publicist, told Christian Retailing.

Doug Knox, senior vice president and publisher at Tyndale, said the first biography about Palin will have a first print run of 250,000 copies. “We’re delighted to be able to work with Epicenter Press to expand distribution of this informative resource,” he said.

Zondervan recently revealed plans to publish a new biography about Palin, “the candidate everyone’s talking about” since McCain’s unexpected announcement.

To be released Oct. 10, Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader by Joe Hilley will explore Palin’s career in politics, her life as a hockey mom and committed Christian faith, explaining how they influence her style of leadership and aligns with the country’s changing economy in the information age, Zondervan officials said.
