Judge to discuss Supreme Court ruling on Ten Commandments Print Email
Sunday, 26 June 2005 08:00 PM America/New_York

The Supreme Court struck down all Ten Commandments displays in courthouses today, ruling that two exhibits in Kentucky cross the line between separation of church and state because they promote a religious message.

The court's decision was 5-4, with Justice Sandra Day O'Connor casting the swing vote. The ruling said the framed copies in two Kentucky courthouses went too far in endorsing religion. The court opted not to prohibit all displays in court buildings or on government property, however.

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, author of So Help Me God: The Ten Commandments, Judicial Tyranny, and the Battle for Religious Freedom (Broadman & Holman, March 2005), will be in New York today and Tuesday discuss the ruling. Moore battled unsuccessfully two years ago to keep a Ten Commandments replica in his courthouse.

Moore is scheduled to appear today on the ABC Radio Network's Sean Hannity Radio, CBS Evening News, FOXNews Channel's Hannity & Colmes and FOXNews Radio's FoxNews Live With Alan Colmes.

On Tuesday, he is scheduled to discuss the ruling on CBS's The Early Show, FOXNews Channel's FOX & Friends and MSNBC's Hardball With Chris Matthews.
