altBased on the seventh installment of Janette Oke's "Love Comes Softly" series (Bethany House Publishers/Baker Publishing Group), Love Takes Wing is scheduled for release on DVD May 5 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and is being distributed to Christian retail by Word Distribution.

The movie tells the story of Dr. Belinda Simpson (Sarah Jones) returning from Boston and making her way to Missouri with her best friend, Annie, (Haylie Duff) to become the town doctor.

Fiction leads summer book releases Print Email

altFiction titles account for a high percentage of books releasing in the next few months, according to Christian Retailing's summer book listings--which features titles releasing from May to August. Authors with fiction books releasing this summer include Karen Kingsbury, Robin Lee Hatcher, Joyce Meyer and Brandilyn Collins.

Also appearing on the listings--which includes categories such as youth, Christian living, family life, relationships and Christianity and Society--are titles by Ted Dekker, Tim LaHaye, Sheila Walsh, Mark Driscoll, Benny Hinn and Pat Robertson.

Christian Supply Inc., in Spartanburg, S.C., is identified as exemplifying the "serve, don't sell" attitude needed for success with Christian shoppers, according to Faith-Based Marketing: The Guide to Reaching 140 Million Christian Consumers.

Bridge-Logos restructures as a nonprofit Print Email

altA pioneering charismatic publisher has gone full circle, restructuring as a nonprofit ministry to help secure its long-term future. Bridge-Logos Publishers in Alachua, Fla., has become Bridge-Logos Foundation.

"It gives a whole different perspective to what we are doing, in the sense that we truly now are a ministry, as opposed to just being a publishing company," said publisher Lloyd Hildebrand of the change. "It ensures the ongoing viability of the company for years to come."

‘New beginning’ for Harrison House Print Email

altSix months after filing voluntary bankruptcy, Harrison House Publishers has announced "a new beginning" for the Tulsa, Okla.-based company.

The company said it has "joined operations" with Press Group, a business in the city that handles printing and direct marketing for Christian ministries. Harrison House officials declined to give further details.

Downturn, consumer-focused show impacts ICRS Print Email

altPublishers, retailers and distributors are cutting back for CBA's annual summer show in light of the continuing tough economy.

The International Christian Retail Show (ICRS), which will mark its 60th anniversary in Denver, July 12-15, could also be impacted by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's inaugural, consumer-oriented Christian Book Expo (CBE)--which produced a disappointing turnout in Dallas in March.
