VeggieTales widens reach with new licenses

Big Idea is expanding the licensing program for its popular VeggieTales brand with the introduction of new merchandise, including gift products.

The company recently signed deals with several new licensing partners across key categories, including confectionery products from Frankford Candy & Chocolate, play ball and toy products from Hedstrom and Easter candy baskets and gift sets from Sherwood Brands. The new products hit retail shelves as early as spring 2010.

The licensees join recently added VeggieTales partners, including Enesco-Gund/Gregg Gift (plush toys & gifts); ScrollMotion (digital books); Carpets For Kids (area rugs); Kidlandia (personalized maps); Find It Games (games); and Trace Designs (wall murals) in addition to the current roster of companies, including ConAgra (fruit snacks); DaySpring (cards and calendars); Bendon Publishing (coloring and activity books); Cranston (fabrics); and Northwest (bedding and outer wear).

Brian Mitchell, director of marketing and licensing for Big Idea, sees the new licenses as "a wonderful opportunity to bring the enduring values and wholesome entertainment of Big Idea and our VeggieTales series to an even wider audience," he said.
