“Divinity is becoming a more socially aware company,” said Keith Schwartz, president of Divinity Boutique. “We are starting to change our entire business model so that everything we do as a company creates a social impact on the world.” 

In 2014, the company plans to develop a mission statement that supports its new direction and drives company decisions.

“The goal will be that all of Divinity’s products support social, humanitarian and/or establishing religious freedom throughout the world,” Schwartz said.

The first product line created with this new focus is an exclusive line of candles created for Koorong. a Christian retail chain in Australia.

Disabled adults installed all of the candle wicks for the line. The products were made completely in the USA.

“With labor facilities like these, we can support job training for those individuals who have been excluded from the mainstream workforce,” Schwartz said. “When products are produced in an adult care facility, it provides the employees with job training, a feeling of accomplishment and a paycheck. Whether the employees work for five minutes or five hours, they are rewarded with a paycheck, they are excited about what they accomplished, and they have a feeling of self-worth.”  

All of Divinity’s jewelry is being repackaged in a similar work facility in Tenn. 

“Currently this is not marked on the product, but customers purchasing this product today can feel comfortable that they are supporting a positive social program in the USA,” Schwartz said. “Divinity is proud to support these types of programs and all others that have an impact on the world around us.”

This year, the company plans to “support orphanages, fight human trafficking, feed the poor and help the handicapped,” he added. “When a consumer buys a Divinity product, they will know that their purchase is going to help people around the globe.”

Production With A Purpose is the name of one of the programs Divinity is launching, and some of the company’s products will bear the new logo.
