Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan , a documentary about the making of the GRAMMY-nominated album of the same name, is scheduled to premiere on the Gospel Music Channel Sunday at 8:30 p.m. In 2003, a cast of gospel singers-including Dottie Peoples, Shirley Caesar, Sounds of Blackness, Helen Baylor, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and others-took Dylan's gospel compositions and created an album, released in the Christian market by Integrity Music. The documentary will feature performances by these artists while documenting the making of the album, interweaving their reinterpretations with interviews. It also includes never-before-seen footage of Dylan performing “When He Returns,” from a 1980 all-gospel concert.
The documentary will air again at 12:30 a.m., and will be encored throughout February. Check local listings for more airtimes.
