Church House Publishing, the Church of England's publishing arm, has released Life Calling, which suggests using extracts from the film Billy Elliot as a way of exploring the dynamics of discovering a special calling.

Written by Kate Bruce and Robert Warren, the book is divided into five parts that can be used by local churches as a Lenten course. Congregations are encouraged to use clips from the movie about a young ballet dancer alongside Bible readings, prayer and group activities to help churchgoers reflect on the meaning of "vocation," Church House officials said.

"Life Calling will help the members of any local congregation to discover or rediscover for themselves the meaning of Christian vocation," leadership expert John Adair said. "It's a course that I for one have long waited to see."
