The National Retail Federation Foundation (NRFF) announced it received a $2.25 million grant from the Department of Labor. The NRFF will use the grant to develop curriculum that will be used to train nearly 44,000 workers in the retail industry as part of the President's High Growth Job Training Initiative.

With the retail industry expecting to add 2.1 million new jobs in the next 10 years, this $2.25 million grant will provide necessary training and skills upgrades for industry workers. Today's retail industry careers expand much farther than sales associates and cashiers, encompassing information technology, marketing, communications, loss prevention, finance and merchandise sourcing.

"The retail industry is growing at an unprecedented rate," said Katherine T. Mance, vice president of NRF. "This grant will provide the opportunity for us to train industry workers, at all levels, while providing mentoring to help maintain their successful career path."
