Religious book sales decline in June |

Sales of religious books dropped 12.9% for the month of June, according to The Association of American Publishers. The month's sales were $32.6 million, and the category's sales were also down 11.6% for the year. The Adult Hardcover category was up by 12.2% in June with sales of $118.7 million, while year-to-date sales decreased by 6.3%. Adult Paperback sales increased 5.5% for the month, posting $115.7 million in sales, and sales were up by 11.5% for the year. The Children's/Young Adult Hardcover category saw an increase of 18.2% for the month with sales of $48.8 million, but its sales for year-to-date dropped by 6.6%. The Paperback category for the same age increased 17.9% with sales totaling $45.6 million; annual sales were also up by 6.2%. Audiobook sales rose 9.1% in June, with sales totaling $14.1 million; sales for the year were down by 15.5%. However, E-book sales continued to rise in June, seeing a 87.4% increase for the month to $4.9 million and posting an increase of 43.3% for the year.
