After a six-year writing hiatus, best-selling author Bruce Wilkinson has reached an agreement with Multnomah Books, an imprint of the WaterBrook Multnomah division of The Doubleday Publishing Group, for two nonfiction works. The first book, You Were Born for This!, will release in hardcover in fall 2009. The deal, which includes world and first serial rights to both works, was announced today by WaterBrook Multnomah President and Publisher Steve Cobb. David Kopp, executive editor for Multnomah, will edit both books. The Prayer of Jabez, Wilkinson's no. 1 New York Times best-seller published by Multnomah in 2000, has sold more than 10 million copies, according to the publisher, and is the second best-selling Christian title of all time behind Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life. Wilkinson's books have sold more than 20 million copies. "The Prayer of Jabez was a landmark in Christian publishing, a megaseller that reached the widest possible readership and paved the way for other mega-selling Christian titles," Cobb said. "With his next book, Wilkinson will once again ignite the marketplace and transform lives."
Said Wilkinson, "Many people are on the edge, wondering, 'Can I find my destiny, my higher purpose that I haven't been able to achieve so far?' Your Were Born for This!
