The Parable Group recognized two retailers for outstanding service during the company's first standalone franchise conference, May 14-15, in Nashville.

Tammy Garner, owner of The Master's, a Parable Christian Store in Clovis, N.M., was named the Parable Franchise of the Year after her store posted increases in sales last year. Parable Franchise Coach Steve Adams said Garner "has found unique ways to motivate her staff. Her commitment and enthusiasm are an inspiration to all of us."

Parable also recognized Steve and Janelle Pickering, owners for almost 20 years of Lemstone Christian Store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the oldest Lemstone franchise. Parable acquired the Insight Retail Group, parent company of Lemstone Christian Stores, late last year.

Steve Pickering was also recently elected to the Parable Franchise Advisory Council, where he joined five other Parable franchisees. Rod Huff, Parable's vice president of franchising, said Pickering's "experience and leadership have been invaluable this past year as we've worked to integrate our two store groups. He has been a voice for unity and believes in the power of 'we.' "
