Left Behind Games, the inspirational video game company that makes games based on the "Left Behind" book series, has announced plans to change its name to Inspired Media Entertainment. The new name, approved by the company's board of directors in a Dec. 3 meeting, was decided on to "better reflect" Left Behind Games' growth in the Christian marketplace, company officials said. The company received media scrutiny after the October 2006 release of "Left Behind: Eternal Forces," which was criticized for its use of violence for Christians surviving in an apocalyptic world. The second game in the series, "Left Behind: Tribulation Forces," was recently released.
During its board meeting, the company also announced the formation of 1,400 direct-to-store relationships, which surpassed the company's projections of 1,000 from earlier this year. In addition to the "Left Behind" games, the company distributes the "Charlie Church Mouse" game series.
