Country-style Christmas music is proving a big draw at LifeWay Christian Stores this year, with recordings by leading artists in the genre among the titles on offer. "Many country artists have roots in the church and most are actively involved in churches," said Mark Beyer, music buyer for the 145-strong denominational chain, in this week's electronic LifeWay newsletter. "As a result, many have released CDs with hymns or Christmas cards," he added. Among the new releases this year is The Star Still Shines from Diamond Rio (Word) and Mary, Did You Know? (Word), which includes inspirational Christmas songs from artists such as Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, LeAnn Rimes and Jo Dee Messina.
Other country artist Christmas albums available in LifeWay outlets include Let It Be Christmas by Alan Jackson (Provident-Integrity), A Classic Christmas (Word) by Wynonna and Songs of the Season
