Mardel Christian & Educational Supply stores has launched an innovative music promotion this fall to send CDs of artists such as MercyMe to missionaries overseas.

"When a customer buys one of the CD titles in the promotion, a copy of that title will be sent to a missionary," Mardel Christian & Educational Supply stores President Jason Green told Christian Retailing. "We also provide a form for customers to send notes of prayer, support and encouragement to the missionary who will receive the CD. ... We are working with Wycliffe (Bible Translators) and Bearing Fruit (Communications) on distributing the CDs to missionaries they work with."

Green said the promotion is modeled after programs used by Christian retailers who have sent free Bibles and books to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Our hope and prayer is that this program will help provide missionaries with encouragement and support-from the notes people send as well as from the music given-to help minister to them as they minister to the people God has led them to around the world," he said.

The Oklahoma City-based Mardel chain has 28 locations in six states, including Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
