Christian titles nab 'ForeWord' awards Print Email

Several Christian books were recently honored during ForeWord Magazine's eighth annual Book of the Year Awards.

The Novelist (West Bow Press) by Angela Hunt won a gold award in the Fiction-Religious category, while Winter Birds (Bethany House) by Jamie Langston Turner took a silver award and Savannah by the Sea (West Bow Press) by Denise Hildreth garnered a bronze award. Taylor Field's Squat (B&H Publishing Group) received an honorable mention award in the Fiction-Religious category.

Eye Witness: Acts of the Spirit (Head Press Publishing) by Robert James Luedke won a bronze award in the Graphic Novel category. Postmodernism 101: A First Course for the Curious Christian (Brazos Press) by Heath White and Foundations of Christian Thought (Kregel Publications) by Mark Cosgrove both garnered bronze awards in the Philosophy category.

Who's Afraid of Postmodernism? Taking Derrida, Lyotard, and Foucault to Church (Baker Academic) by James Smith received a silver award in the Religion category.

A panel of judges composed of librarians and booksellers named 216 winners, narrowed from nearly 1,400 entries. The winners were announced at a ceremony during Book Expo America in New York City, June 1. ForeWord Magazine characterizes itself as a publication that "reviews good books independently published."
