Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? (Zondervan) by Philip Yancey has been nominated for a 2007 Quill Book Award in the Religion/Spirituality category. “Each of Philip's books takes readers on a spiritual journey as he explores an aspect of his personal faith and asks tough questions that many Christians struggle with,” said Scott Bolinder, executive vice president and publisher at Zondervan. “Prayer is one of his finest works to date and is deeply deserving of this honor.” Yancey, Christianity Today editor at large, was also recently named one of the winners in the magazine's annual list of best books. Prayer was chosen top in the Christian Living category. Additionally, Yancey's book is a finalist in the Christian Life category for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's Christian Book Awards 2007. The Quill Awards, which reflect the tastes of readers, booksellers and librarians, features 19 categories, ranging from romance to biography to spiritual and inspirational to graphic novels.
The awards will be presented Oct. 22 at Lincoln Center in New York City. A syndicated TV special on the Quill Awards will be broadcast Oct. 27.
