U.S. soldiers will receive free Christian T-shirts through a program launched by Wear the Message, Inc. called "Sponsor-A-Shirt for a Soldier." Boxes of Christian T-shirts will be shipped to military chaplains in Iraq, Afghanistan and other U.S. military bases for distribution, according to officials of the non-profit corporation based in Ohio. The campaign was birthed from the idea of "how can we touch the lives of our U.S. military," according to Richard Dillman, president of Family Life Resources in Tampa, Fla., and a sponsor of the program. "We wanted to let the men and women of our U.S. military know that we were behind them, thinking about them and praying for them by blessing them with a gift," Dillman said. "Since the average age of a soldier is early to mid-20s, we wanted to speak their language. Sending them a Bible is nice, but putting Christ's message on a T-shirt and sending it to them is powerful."
