Focus on the Family takes top EPA Awards |

Focus on the Family (FotF) took home two top awards from the annual Evangelical Press Association (EPA) convention, which concluded Friday in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Colorado Springs-based publisher received Awards of Excellence in the Christian Online and Youth categories for pluggedinonline and Breakaway magazines. In addition, FotF collected Higher Goals awards for Evangelistic Article (“What's Up?,” Brio) and Fiction (“Me First,” Clubhouse Jr.). Christianity Today International, which took home the most awards from this year's EPA convention just like it did in 2006, collected Higher Goals awards for Article Series (Leadership); Biblical Exposition (Christianity Today); Editorial (Leadership); Interview (Leadership); Standing Column (Christianity Today); Single-Theme Section (Christianity Today); and Cover (Christianity Today). Other Awards of Excellence were presented for Denominational (BGC World, Baptist General Conference); Devotional (YouthWalk, Walk Through the Bible); Missions (Send!, Gospel for Asia); Newsletter (Jubilee Extra, Prison Fellowship Ministries); Newspaper (Minnesota Christian Chronicle, Keener Communications Group); Organizational (Wheaton, Wheaton College); Most Improved Publication (Baptist Message, Louisiana Baptist Convention) and Campus (The Northwestern Column, Northwestern College). With the theme “Refresh, Renew, Recharge,” the May 2-4 conference, which included workshops and panel discussions, was attended by about 350 editors, writers and designers. EPA's 250-plus member periodicals have a combined readership of more than 20 million.
