The Texas Supreme Court has denied a petition by The Local Church (TLC) and its publishing arm, Living Stream Ministry (LSM), to re-hear their $136 million defamation lawsuit against Harvest House Publishers, and authors John Ankerberg and John Weldon.

The court denied the petition by TLC and LSM on Feb. 16. On Dec. 1, the Texas Supreme Court denied a review of the lawsuit brought by TLC and LSM against Harvest House and the two authors in reference to the publisher's Encyclopedia of Cults and New Religions, which TLC claimed was defamatory.

TLC had asked the court to review the Texas Court of Appeals ruling for a summary judgment in favor of Harvest House Publishers in November.

The libel action against Harvest House was filed Dec. 31, 2001. LSM said that it had gone to court reluctantly, after repeated efforts to “resolve our differences.”
