Matt Baugher has been hired as the new vice president and publisher of Thomas Nelson's Spiritual Growth & Christian Thought publishing unit.

“Matt will bring a tremendous amount of knowledge to our publishing team and has an impressive background that will only complement our culture here,” Thomas Nelson Senior Vice President and Group Publisher David Moberg said.

Baugher, a veteran of the Christian literary and music management industry, joins Nelson with almost 20 years of experience in the music, literary and direct ministry fields. As manager and executive producer, he helped shape the careers of artists Sandi Patty and Kathy Troccoli on the Word and Reunion Records labels.

Baugher replaces Greg Daniel who will be leaving the company March 31 to form the Daniel Literary Group, a literary agency.

Among the projects that Baugher will oversee are upcoming releases from Bono and George Foreman as well as future projects from Billy Graham, Hank Hanegraaff and Ravi Zacharias. The division, one of the new Strategic Publishing Units created under Nelson's recently announced “One Company” initiative, will publish 25-30 new releases annually, company officials said.
