Minnesota-based publishing company Bethany House Publishers is marking its 50th anniversary.

Bethany House's publishing roots draw from the protestant renewal movement of the '40s and '50s, and early published works included Leonard Ravenhill's best-selling Why Revival Tarries. In the late 1970s Bethany House helped pioneer evangelical Christian fiction with the launch of Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly. In 2003 the company was bought by what is now Baker Publishing Group, which is now the fourth-largest Christian book publisher.

A banquet was held in honor of the company's anniversary Sept. 22 at the Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington, Minn. Among those in attendance were authors Janette Oke, Beverly Lewis, Lauraine Snelling and Larry Christenson.
