Leading authors will speak and be on hand to meet with retailers and members of the public as part of a special charismatic publishing focus at the Charisma Book Expo in Atlanta, next week. Tommy Tenney, who wrote the top-selling The God Chasers (Destiny Image), and Germaine Copeland, author of the best-selling “Prayers That Avail Much” series (Harrison House), are among those who will be leading special workshops at the new-style event. With charismatic authors and musicians among Christian publishing's top sellers, the expo at the Georgia International Convention Center (Sept. 27-30) is being hosted by a group of leading suppliers of charismatic materials to celebrate the growth of the category, and expand awareness of it among retailers and the public. Other daytime workshop speakers will include John Sandford, widely recognized for his teaching and writing as a pioneer in the inner-healing ministry. His The Elijah List is to be published in January by Charisma House, which is re-issuing a mini-library of his works in the next couple of years. In addition, a publishers panel discussion on the growth of the charismatic market will be led by Stephen Strang, founder and president of Strang Communications. He launched Charisma magazine in 1975 to serve the charismatic and Pentecostal community. Strang Communications is hosting the expo along with Baker Publishing Group, Faith Library, Gospel Light, Harrison House, Integrity Media, FaithWords and Whitaker House/Anchor Distributors. Other charismatic speakers, writers and musicians participating in general morning and evening sessions at the expo will include R.T. Kendall, John Bevere, Judy Jacobs and Martha Munizzi. The evening seminars will be televised by Daystar Television, to air later. The event will also be broadcast on the Internet by streamingfaith.com, with a link to the site from www.strang.com. Open to the public, the Charisma Book Expo combines a Christian retail industry focus with a general-interest conference schedule. Scores of Christian product and ministry exhibitors will be featured in a sold-out exhibition area that will be open to the public as well as retailers and suppliers.
