Religious book sales down following year-to-date losses Print Email

Books sales took a slight dip for the month of May in most categories tracked by the Association of American Publishers (AAP). The Religious Books category took a noticeable hit when it dropped by 21.4% ($13.9 million) in the month of May. The loss follows this year's continued decline in Religious Book sales, which have seen a 21.7% decrease for the year.

Net book sales were down across the board by 1.7% for the month, while overall year-to-date sales were up by 3.2%. Adult Paperback sales continued to climb with an increase of 19.6% (sales totaled $100.1 million), with an increase of 20.5% year-to-date.

The Association of American Publishers is the national trade association of the U.S. book publishing industry.
