Integra Interactive has announced the launch of Bible ConneXion, an interactive kiosk to guide shoppers in the selection of a Bible. Bible ConneXion was developed in partnership with B&H Publishing Group, Crossway Books & Bibles, Green Key Books, NavPress, Tyndale House Publishers and Zondervan. The database represents all Bible publishers and Bible versions.

“Four years ago we began researching the viability of a kiosk that would guide a shopper through four or five easy questions and then recommend up to three Bibles to them,” said David Amster, chief innovation officer for Integra Interactive. “Last year we became convinced that 2006 was the right time to launch Bible ConneXion.”

Tyndale House Publishers signed on as the lead partner by making “a significant investment” to fund the software development, Integra said in a statement. The system “collects and organizes all the information a consumer needs to make a purchase decision," said Doug Knox, vice president & publisher of Tyndale House. “Retailers can decrease the walk-out rate and increase profits while expanding their ministry impact.”

Two recent research projects conducted independently by The Barna Group and by Britt Beemer's America's Research Group showed that 50% of shoppers that came into a Christian store to purchase a Bible walked out without purchasing one because the variety was too confusing and frontliners were not well-trained enough to guide a shopper.

“If we can help a retailer to capture just 15% of the lost Bible sales through the use of Bible ConneXion, this will significantly boost a store's profits,” Amster said.
