Thomas Nelson recently shipped its two millionth Bible for the Million Bible Challenge, which doubled its original goal of one million.

Nelson Bibles will promote the Million Bible Challenge during National Bible Week-sponsored by the National Bible Association-which will be held Nov. 20-27. During National Bible Week, people around the country will be encouraged to read the Bible.

The Million Bible Challenge was first issued in March 2005. To respond to the challenge, customers buy Bibles in bulk-$1 per Bible and $20 per case-from their local Christian bookstore and then give them away to friends, family and those who don't have a Bible.

Nelson created an edition of the New King James Version specifically for the challenge and reached its initial goal of distributing 1 million Bibles in three months. Now, Nelson's goal is to distribute Bibles into the hands of 5 million people by Easter 2006. To learn more about the Million Bible Challenge, visit www.millionbiblechallenge.com.
