Retailer attendance was up 50% with vendor traffic seeing a 30% increase when the Munce Group's fourth annual Christian Product Expo (CPE) convened last week in Nashville. Brian Vandergraff, Munce's sales manager, said the Sept. 11-14 event attracted 98 vendors and more than 170 Christian retail outlets. Designed for Munce's member retailers, CPE gave store representatives the chance to meet with vendors in a convention setting to see the items offered in the marketing group's catalog. Attendees also participated in daily workshops led by veteran store owners. “Most people are optimistic and encouraged about the future,” Vandergraff said, adding that many retailers in attendance were posting increases in sales as competition from large retailers such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy has leveled off.
