Doug Lockhart has been named president of Zondervan, the publisher announced this week. Lockhart will replace Bruce Ryskamp, who will continue to serve as the company's CEO. Ryskamp, at Zondervan since 1983, has been president and CEO for the past 12 years; he will continue to oversee and direct Zondervan's growth strategies, and continue to serve on parent company HarperCollins' executive committee. Lockhart will begin to oversee day-to-day operations across all aspects of the company. Lockhart joined Zondervan in 2002 as vice president of marketing for Bibles. In 2004, he was promoted to senior vice president of marketing over Zondervan's publishing enterprise, including books, Bibles and Zonderkidz. He was subsequently promoted to executive vice president of marketing. “Doug has earned my respect and the respect of others for his strong leadership, innovative thinking, dedication and passion for our mission,” Ryskamp said. “His many tangible contributions helped him rise through our ranks rapidly and proved to be invaluable to our growth.”
