‘War Room’ DVD reaches No. 1 Print Email

WarRoom-webWar Room, the hit Kendrick Brothers film, launched on Blu-ray and DVD Dec. 22 and quickly topped both Christian and mainstream retail charts, according to Provident Films Senior Vice President Ben Howard. War Room ranked No. 1 of all DVD projects of any genre. The DVD has been on the SoundScan list for five weeks and is currently No. 1, followed by two previous Kendrick Brothers releases, Courageous and Fireproof.

The War Room film has been nominated in several Movieguide award categories, with the winners to be announced Feb. 5. Additionally, War Room actress and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer will participate in the 2016 Super Bowl Gospel Celebration on Feb. 5. Additional events are planned throughout the year focused on the power of prayer.

Walthour is the new director of sales for Whitaker House. Well known for his extensive career in the publishing industry, Walthour has over 20 years’ experience with CBA and ABA major publishers, including Random House, Penguin, Harper, Simon & Schuster and Hachette.

Elvis-era Imperials singer Joe Moscheo dies Print Email

joe-moscheo-deathFormer Imperials singer Joe Moscheo died Jan. 11. He was 78. Moscheo had suffered for years from a degenerative neurological disease and was hospitalized weeks earlier after emergency surgery.

Moscheo had a varied career history. He joined the Prophets Quartet in 1962 and The Imperials in the late 60s. During his tenure, The Imperials toured with Elvis Presley from 1969 to 1971. Later, Moscheo started the New Direction Artist talent agency in Nashville, went into the banking industry and worked as a pianist and music arranger.

3ae0e65Zondervan announced Thursday that Londa Alderink has been hired as the new vice president of marketing for Zonderkidz and Blink YA. Zonderkidz is the children’s division for Zondervan, and Blink is a young adult imprint operating within the division.

Alderink has been with the Zondervan publishing group for eight years, most recently as a senior marketing director for Zondervan’s nonfiction trade team. She has led very successful marketing campaigns for the New York Times best-selling titles Hands Free Mama by Rachel Macy Stafford, Keep It Shut by Karen Ehman, Wrestling for My Life by Shawn Michaels and The Daniel Plan by Dr. Rick Warren, Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Daniel Amen. Alderink joins Zonderkidz and Blink with an understanding of its products, authors and publishing philosophy.

paul-fisher-hccpHarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) announced Tuesday the company has hired Paul Fisher as the senior marketing director for its fiction publishing group. Fisher will work under the direction of Daisy Hutton, vice president and publisher for fiction.

In his new role, Fisher will be setting and leading the strategic marketing focus for both Thomas Nelson and Zondervan fiction publishing programs. He will be responsible for building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships as well as leading the fiction’s marketing enterprise.
