joe-moscheo-deathFormer Imperials singer Joe Moscheo died Jan. 11. He was 78. Moscheo had suffered for years from a degenerative neurological disease and was hospitalized weeks earlier after emergency surgery.

Moscheo had a varied career history. He joined the Prophets Quartet in 1962 and The Imperials in the late 60s. During his tenure, The Imperials toured with Elvis Presley from 1969 to 1971. Later, Moscheo started the New Direction Artist talent agency in Nashville, went into the banking industry and worked as a pianist and music arranger.

Lou Hildreth, a longtime friend and business associate, reflected on Moscheo’s life to singingnews.com.

“Joe was a consultant to many in the music industry,” Hildreth said. “People sought him out for advice, and he was known for being helpful to everybody.”
