Writers hoping to enter Christian publishing have more options through self-publishing, which carries less of a "stigma" in recent years, according to author and marketing expert Sally E. Stuart.

Stuart--who participated in a Webinar last night with Intermedia Publishing Group Publisher Terry Whalin--said that self-publishing helps provide more opportunities for authors, but it also presents challenges such as finding distribution and bypassing the editing process. "The main thing is how are you going to distribute that book?" Stuart commented.

Stuart took questions from participants, who asked about the current state of the magazine industry, average book sales, securing literary agents, social media marketing and how to become an author.

Stuart recently released the 25th anniversary edition of her Christian Writer's Market Guide (Tyndale House Publishers), an exhaustive resource that provides information on magazine and book publishers as well as writer's groups, literary agents and tips for writers.
