A leading Chinese Christian media provider, ZDL has announced plans to host an invitation-only gathering this year to help Western leaders understand what is happening in China and develop business opportunities in the Asian nation.

"Beijing Brief" is to be held March 2-4 at a Beijing hotel. In October, China celebrated 60 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

BMI to honor 'Trailblazers of Gospel' Print Email

Broadcast Music Inc.(BMI) will honor Donnie McClurkin and AndraƩ Crouch during its 11th annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon.

The invitation-only event is to be held Jan. 15 in Nashville, the day before the 25th Annual Stellar Awards. A two-time GRAMMY winner, McClurkin, who garnered a 2010 Stellar Award nomination for Traditional Male of the Year, will co-host the Stellar Awards ceremony.

A church bookstore is flying the flag--literally--to help promote its congregation's new musical release.

Those who purchase a copy of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir's new CD, Declare Your Name, at the famous New York City church's Bell Tower Christian Books & Gifts store, are being given a miniature copy of one of the purple flags featured on the disc's cover.

Australian retailer's 'learn as we go' approach Print Email

A top Australian Christian retailer has spoken about his family business' first overseas venture, which has saved a group of leading stores in the U.K.

Paul Bootes, managing director of Koorong, said that the company--which has 18 stores across Australia--would be adopting a "learn as we go" approach with the eight Wesley Owen stores it purchased last month as part of the breakup of IBS-STL UK.

The offices of Christian Retailing will be closed Thursday, Dec. 31, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday, but will reopen Monday, Jan. 4. There will be no Christian Retailing Update report Thursday.
 
Swanson Christian Products' 75th anniversary Print Email

Swanson Christian Products (SCP) is marking its 75th anniversary in 2010 as one of the oldest gift suppliers in the industry.

Founded in 1935 by Clifford Swanson, the company is run today by his grandson, Adam Swanson, but has been owned since 2004 by Victory Christian Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where the younger Swanson is pastor. Through the years, the not-for-profit company has channeled proceeds into missions efforts at home and abroad, recently funding the delivery of 30,000 Bibles into China.
