Thomas Nelson Bible Group adds new staff Print Email

Thomas Nelson Bible Group has announced that Heather McMurray and Lindsay Williams have joined its staff.

McMurray will serve as acquisitions editor for Bible, reference and curriculum products. She previously worked for Abingdon Press, where she served for five years as a freelance editor for Bibles and reference, and later as a development editor for books, Bibles and Media.

Williams--who will serve as marketing specialist--is a former editor of CCM Magazine, where she worked for four years overseeing a redesign of the publication's print edition, and later launched the digital version of the magazine.

"I'm excited that these talented women have joined our publishing family," said Gary Davidson, senior vice president and publisher for Nelson's Bible, Reference and Curriculum Group. "Both of them will be playing an important role in our efforts to honor God and inspire all people."

Peter Hitchens, the brother of prominent atheist and author Christopher Hitchens (God is Not Great), explains his own spiritual journey in The Rage Against God: How Atheism Led Me To Faith, to be released by Zondervan next month.

In the book, the author--who burned his Bible in prep school but later came to faith in Christ--says he wanted to offer something for atheists and Christians.

CanZion-Integrity Distribution (CID)--an alliance between the CanZion Group and Integrity Music Latin--has announced that it will cease joint operations within the U.S., but will continue doing business in Puerto Rico.

Two of the world's leading producers of Latin worship music, Integrity Music Latin and CanZion Group, formed CID last year in an effort to combine sales/marketing and distribution operations for the U.S. and Puerto Rico--while maintaining separate operations for all international markets.

Retailers 'critical' to Christian gaming category Print Email

Industry observers are expressing hope for the future of inspirational video games in light of the merger of two of the nation's largest Christian video game companies. They say that the support from Christian retailers is "critical to the success of Christian gaming."

Inspired Media Entertainment, the inspirational video game company that makes games based on the "Left Behind" book series, announced in February that it would merge with Digital Praise, the maker of Guitar Praise--a Christian game similar to the popular Guitar Hero.

'Letters to God' to premiere in theaters Print Email

Letters to God--directed by David Nixon, one of the producers of Facing the Giants and Fireproof--will open nationwide in about 800 theaters tomorrow, April 9.

Inspired by a true story, the movie--rated PG for thematic material--is about 8-year-old brain-cancer patient Tyler (Tanner McGuire of House, M.D.; Lost), whose prayers take the form of letters to God, which he composes and mails daily.
