Christian retailers will soon be asked to help name the best new Christian products of the year.

They will be invited to help select the 2011 Christian Retailing Retailers Choice Awards, widely acknowledged for recognizing some of the most significant new life-changing products in the Christian retail industry.

NEW CATEGORIES

Before voting begins, suppliers are asked to nominate what they consider to be their best releases of 2009. There are 46 categories for which Christian Retailing will receive nominations.

In light of the continued growth of fiction, this year’s program sees six genre categories. To see a category listing, visit www.RetailersChoiceAwards.com.

NOMINATION DEADLINE

The nomination period runs through Jan. 31, 2011. Suppliers who nominate their products by 5 p.m., Jan. 17 can save on entry fees with an Early Bird option (buy five, get one free; buy 10, get two free, and so on).

The entry fee remains just $50 per item.

OFFICIAL RULES

Products nominated for the 2011 Retailers Choice Awards must have been published/released in 2010 and include clear Christian content, message or worldview.

In the Gift category, “inspirational” items not specifically Christian will be considered, although those contrary to orthodox Christianity will not be included. Entry fees for products not accepted will be returned in full.

Retailers will be asked to judge nominations on the impact they have had on staff and customers, including their ability to:

speak to people’s hearts and evoke emotion

open people’s minds to new ways of thinking

 encourage and affirm Christ-like living.

We reserve the right to revise the categories in which suppliers enter their products. The deadline for suppliers to nominate products is Jan. 31. Nominating companies shall not canvass retailers for votes.

Voting details will appear in the March print issue of Christian Retailing, with a survey ballot available online for retailers. The deadline for voting is March 31. Voting retailers will be eligible for a drawing to receive a free selection of finalists’ products.

The results will be verified by an independent firm of certified public accountants and announced in April.
