11:30am-1pm Luncheon / Introductions 1pm - 2pmFirst Things FirstLearn to plan for success by creating a business plan and a mission statement for your store that integrates with your church's mission. 2pm - 3pm No fear! - Introduction to Finance Learn the importance of paperwork for legal requirements, financial statements, internal records, Basics on sales and income, purchasing, receiving, returns, payroll and expenses will be covered. 3pm - 4pm Budget is Not a Dirty Word Learn to prioritize your spending and manage your money - no matter how much or how little you have. Sales forecasts, personnel budgets, purchasing budgets, and expense budgets will be covered. 4pm - 5pmIt's Who You Know: RelationshipsLearn about establishing and maintaining strong relationships with church leaders, bookstore staff and volunteers, congregation members and vendors. 5pm - 6pm Putting Your Best Foot Forward: Introduction to Marketing Learn essential tools for how to establish an identity for your store. Forming a marketing plan that includes selling and promotions, as well as ideas for reaching, adding and keeping customers will be covered. 6pm - 8pm Design On a Dime Learn creative ideas for layout and displays on a limited budget. Also, get some advice on how to determine the best inventory for your store. Dinner is provided. |
