The first Church Bookstore Network (CBN) Regional Gathering for church stores and church libraries from Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina will be held Friday, June 5, at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga.

We'll feature guest speakers Maggie Brendan, author of No Place for a Lady, speaking on the value of Christian fiction; William Lane Craig (Reasonable Faith), speaking on the meaning and value of apologetics; and David McIntyre, president and CEO of KVI Consulting, and former manager of World Harvesters Church International Bookstore in Atlanta, will speak on the top 10 things church stores need to know.

There will be giveaways, a drawing and lunch will be provided at no cost. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the meeting will end at 3 p.m. To preregister, contact CBN regional director Dottie Poythress at This email address is being protected from spambots. If you know of anyone that has any unique items for sale that would be appropriate for our church bookstores, let me know, and invite them to our meeting to present.

This will be our last meeting before summer, and the topic will be "Spring Housecleaning"-what can you do to "spruce up" your store for summer, and what merchandise is "barking" at you to get rid of? We will talk about creative ways on how you can get rid of your "barking dogs" (merchandise that has been on your shelves for more than a year).

At our last meeting, Carol Voge, representing the nonprofit Dorcas Widows from Kampala, Uganda, brought hand-rolled recycled paper necklaces and bracelets. Also, Mary Lubinski of Visible Verse Cards was there to show her unique "Without Excuse" photographic art. We also welcomed Kelli Fredin of Valley Resource Center who is now operating a "tabletop" church bookstore at Valley Christian Church in Apple Valley.
