Thomas Nelson's The Word of Promise New Testament was a big winner at the 2008 ECPA Book Awards held on Sunday evening of the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS), marking the first time an audio project has received the honor.

Mark Kuyper, Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) president, told Christian Retailing that an audiobook winning the Book of the Year award demonstrates that the priority is still "on content, regardless of delivery."

Other winners included Tyndale House Publishers' Discover God Study Bible (Bibles), Zondervan's An Old Testament Theology by Bruce K. Waltke (Bible Reference and Study), B&H Publishing Group's Teen Virtue Confidential by Vicki Courtney (Children and Youth), Zondervan's Step Into the Bible by Ruth Graham (Inspiration and Gift), Zondervan's When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box by John Ortberg (Christian Life) and Bethany House Publishers' In Search of Eden by Linda Nichols (Fiction).

The awards also included a keynote address from author Gary Chapman, who revealed principles from his July 15 release Love as a Way of Life (Multnomah) and a special Jordon Lifetime Achievement Award to author and humanitarian John M. Perkins.
