Frazzled Christian booksellers received a much-needed boost at CBA's closing plenary session at the International Christian Retail Show last night. “Together you're ministering to millions of people,” CBA President Bill Anderson told retailers. “Tonight we want to minister to you.” Author Randy Alcorn, founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries, said he was born into a non-Christian family and depended on his “mentors”-Christian books-to mature as a young Christian. “I bought hundreds of books from an elderly couple in our church named Bill and Martha Kuntz who had a Christian bookstore in their house,” he said. “I'd go there several days a week for hours at a time. They introduced me to Lewis, Schaeffer and Tozer, and books like God's Smuggler, Through Gates of Splendor and The Cross and the Switchblade.” Alcorn shared stories of several readers who received Christ through his books-even a socialistic political science professor at San Francisco State University.
Musical encouragement also came from Selah and Sara Groves. Groves also introduced a clip from her upcoming DVD, Sara Groves: Just Showed Up for My Own Life |
