Word Records has announced the signing of country supergroup Diamond Rio. The first project under the agreement, A Diamond Rio Christmas: The Star Still Shines, is set for an Oct. 9 release, the group's first Christmas project, the recording label said.

The album will feature classic holiday songs along with the title track, a song written by the band. A Diamond Rio Christmas will be distributed by Word Distribution in the Christian retail channel and country music markets.

Known for uplifting lyrics and positive message songs, Diamond Rio has sold 10 million albums, garnered nine No. 1 singles and received numerous country music awards, Word said.
