Nominees for the 2006 American Music Awards were announced on Tuesday in Beverly Hills. This year's nominees included three Christian artists, in the Contemporary Inspirational category-Aly & AJ, Casting Crowns and Kirk Franklin.

In the general market, Mariah Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback lead the nominations with three nods each.

The awards, which are chosen by the public, will air on Nov. 21 on ABC at 8 p.m. EDT.
