Switchfoot continues to make great strides on the Christian and mainstream charts.

The Beautiful Letdown (Sparrow) was voted one of the best CDs of 2004 by iTunes. The CD was recognized along with albums from mainstream artists Usher, Ray Charles, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Alicia Keys, Loretta Lynn and Black Eyed Peas.

This week, Switchfoot had been on Billboard's Top 200 charts for 93 weeks. In its 2004 wrap-up, the magazine named the band as the No. 1 Christian artist and The Beautiful Letdown as the top Christian album. Switchfoot's "Meant To Live" was No. 18 on the magazine's end-of-the-year Hot Mainstream Top 40 Tracks chart. The band also grabbed the No. 1 spot this week with "This Is Your Life" on multiple Christian charts, including Radio & Records, CRW and PDAdvisor.

In its "Pop's Pet Sounds" 2004 music wrap-up, The New York Times noted, "Openly Christian rockers like Switchfoot did break through to the mainstream … iconoclasm went out in favor of singing about God … and radio programmers once considered songs about God to be commercial blunders; no more."
