Best-selling novelist Debbie Macomber has signed a deal to write two nonfiction inspirational books with Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. The first book, Fishes and Loaves: Living in a Spirit of Generosity, will be published in fall 2009.

Fishes and Loaves will share stories of intentional acts of generosity from Macomber's life and the lives of others. She contends that people's willingness to live in a spirit of giving yields unforeseen miracles. "I've seen it happen over and over," she said. "God takes our meager resources of time, experience and money-our loaves and fishes, so to speak-and multiplies them."

Macomber has more than 100 million copies of her books in print, including the popular "Cedar Cove" and "Blossom Street" series.
